Speaking on the occasion, he said that Pakistan has generated 23,116 MW of electricity for the first time which was completed a few days ago. Releasing a Twitter message, he added that the previous record of generating the most electricity in Pakistan was set on July 24, 2018 when the country generated 20,811 MW of electricity. ۔Earlier this month, Asad Umar revealed that WAPDA had recorded a 20 per cent increase in hydel power capacity during FY19-20.
Asad Umar had said that with the completion of Dasu, Mohmand and Diamer-Bhasha dams, Pakistan's capacity to generate indigenous renewable energy would be further enhanced. In addition, Federal Minister for Energy Omar Ayub recently revealed that the government has reshaped the power network and distribution system across the country as it is expected to generate 100,000 MW of electricity by 2040.
